Nourishing Our Tamariki: The MWPS Lunch Programme

At Manurewa West Primary School, we believe that a well-nourished child is a happy, engaged learner. We are absolutely delighted to provide a free, nutritious lunch to all learners, every single day they are at school.

To keep things local and fresh, our lunches are cooked fresh daily by the talented team at Manurewa High School, strengthening our wonderful community connections.

We know that providing these meals does so much more than just fill tummies. Research shows that reducing food insecurity for our children and young people:

• Improves overall wellbeing and boosts health.

• Supports crucial child development and learning.

• Lifts classroom concentration, positive behaviour, and school achievement.

• Eases financial hardship for our families and whānau.

• Removes barriers to participation, actively promoting steady school attendance.

This vital initiative is led by our Deputy Principal, Mr Komal Singh. Mr Singh works closely with our providers to ensure top-quality delivery and high standards for all of our learners.
