Stranger Danger

Kia ora MWPS Whānau,

The safety of our learners is always our top priority. We want to make you aware that there was a recent attempted child abduction at a local school in Manurewa. While this did not involve any of our students, we are sharing this information as a precaution.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about stranger danger and remind them to:
-Walk with friends or siblings whenever possible
-Avoid talking to strangers or going near unfamiliar vehicles
-Report anything that makes them feel unsafe to a trusted adult immediately

If you drop off or pick up your child, please be on time. The school day ends at 3pm and learners are unsupervised after this time. It is vital that they are picked up promptly to ensure their safety. If you are unable to collect your child on time, please make alternative arrangements or book them into after-school care. Being left at the school gate for extended periods is not safe.

If your child walks home, please ensure they know a safe route and have clear expectations about what to do if they feel unsafe.

Thank you for your ongoing support in keeping our tamariki safe.

Ngā mihi,
Team MWPS
