The school has embarked on this wonderful journey over the last 3 years to further develop Maori bi-cultural practice across the school. At Manurewa West Primary School a specialist te reo Maori teacher is employed to teach all classes basic te reo Maori and Tikanga Maori. Led by Whaea Kohu Tongaawhikau our Cultural Director Te Ao Maori me ona Tikanga the school’s pepeha, tikanga, whakatau, powhiri and other protocol has been developed, taught and practiced across the school.
Our goal as a school is for te reo Maori to be naturally integrated into teaching and learning conversations in all classrooms for all students.
